Skin for Skin

Acne and blemishes are something that many of us struggle with, and while there is no magic bullet (and is there for anything?), here are some things that people are unaware of. To begin with there are a number of nutrients that can be helpful in dealing with acne. And if that's not enough,it's also a good idea to take a multivitamin as insurance that you are getting all the nutrients that may be missing from your daily diet. Our bodies need to get both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. However if we get these in the wrong ratio for example too many 6s to 3s or vice versa, it can create an inflammatory condition in the body. Inflammation in the body is one of the contributing factors to acne. Foods such as chicken, eggs, and milk all have more omega -6s than omega -3s. to bring the ratio back in balance use fish oil which is high in omega -3s. Try taking 1 to 3 grams of fish oil daily, if you still have a lot of redness and swelling you may benefit from even more. You can take 4 to 10 grams daily if you can tolerate it. Clearly if you are allergic to fish oil don't take it. If you are not and have acne give it a try and pay attention to what your body tells you. More nutrient tips to come... And soon this time :) acumen

*Always consult a physician before implementing any supplements into your diet.
