Designed to thoroughly cleanse the cuticle (outer layer) of the hair shaft. Step 1 will release dirt or debris found on the surface of the hair shaft. This leaves the cuticle free of substances which might prevent the conditioning agents found in Step 2 from penetrating the cuticle layer of the hair and entering the cortexial fibers (inner fibers), of the hair shaft.
